HCM Extracts

In Oracle Fusion HCM, HCM Extracts are a powerful tool used to extract HR data from the system in a structured and configurable format. They are commonly used for:

  • Generating reports
  • Data feeds to external systems (like payroll vendors, benefits providers, etc.)
  • Integrations and compliance reporting

Key Components: 


Extract Definition: 
The overall container for your extract.
Contains metadata like name, type (Full, Incremental, etc.), and delivery options.

Extract Data Group
Logical groupings of related data (like Person, Assignment, Contact).
Acts as the root or child groups of the data hierarchy.

Extract Attributes
Actual fields you want to pull, such as Name, DOB, National ID, etc.
Can be directly from DB or calculated using fast formulas.

Extract Records - Instances of Data Groups with their attributes at runtime.

Fast Formulas
Used for filtering, deriving values, date effective logic, etc.
Often used in Extract Rules and Attribute Derivations.

Delivery Options
Define how and where the output is delivered (e.g., to UCM, email, FTP).
File formats include CSV, XML, etc.

Output Types
XML (default), CSV (through Data Report), Excel, etc.
BI Publisher templates can be attached for formatted reports.
